Client Story: Preventing a Family’s Eviction

TLSC’s Eviction Helpline team offers on-the-spot representation at a local courthouse to people facing their eviction case alone.

I was at the courthouse on a Wednesday morning when I had an eviction case. I was just a mess because I thought, this is going to be horrible. I have a special needs son that I care for, and I thought we were going to be thrown out on the street. Thank you, God, for having Bill [a TLSC attorney] there, asking if any of us need help. And he helped me. He was the nicest person I've ever met. He had so much compassion and concern for my situation.

I was in shock the whole time because when I've had any dealings with attorneys it's been all about money and what they could charge you. [They] were never compassionate or cared in the way that Bill did. He helped me so much with my case. I was able to come home, look at my son and know we weren’t going to be out on the street, homeless.
