Family Helpline's Kincare Legal Assistance Project Pro Bono

Are you a family law attorney looking for a meaningful way to give back? Join TLSC’s Kincare Legal Assistance Project and help Texas caretakers who are providing a loving home for a child of a relative or friend when the parents are unable to care for them.

About the Program

The Kincare Legal Assistance Program is a statewide project to help non-parental caregivers with related or non-related children in their care gain long-term safety and security. The caregivers may have the child or children due to a formal CPS placement, an informal CPS placement, parental agreement, parental or primary caregiver death or incarceration or parental abandonment.

The Type of Work You'll Be Doing

We're currently seeking a passionate pro bono attorney to serve as an attorney ad litem in cases where service by publication is required in Dallas County. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in locating missing parents, drafting and submitting reports to the court, and representing the child's best interests in a hearing.

QUALIFICATIONS

You must be a licensed attorney.
You must have experience in family law, preferably with ad litem work.
You must have access to a people finder service.

LOCATION
Hybrid - Dallas County
TIME COMMITMENT
5-15 hours over 1-2 months
